White Eye Light was the result of obtaining a Mellotron VST instrument and the experimentation that followed.

The Mellotron is an electromechanical polyphonic keyboard that was originally developed and built in Birmingham, England in the early 1960s. The heart of the instrument is a bank of magnetic tape strips. Each tape had approximately eight seconds of playing time; playback heads underneath each key enabling performers to play the pre-recorded sound assigned to that key when pressed. The sound on each individual tape piece is recorded at the specific pitch of the key that it was assigned to. There were usually up to three selectable ‘voices’ available such as strings, choir or flute. The Mellotron VST instrument used in these tracks is a digital interpretation of this original analogue device.
